Dr. Khanbhai is interventional cardiologist at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Hospital (JKCI). He has expertise in all echocardiographic modalities and cardiac catherization procedures including coronary angiography and angioplasty, peripheral interventions device implantations.
He mentors cardiology fellows, internal medicine residents, medical students, and undergraduate students working on projects in the coronary care unit.He is involved in conducting research focused on addressing the care of acute coronary syndrome from multiple perspectives and has contributed several publications on the diagnosis and management of patients with acute coronary syndrome.
In addition, he is one of few interventional-trained cardiologists in the nation. He oversees the National Registry for Cardiovascular Disease(NCDR) registry, which is affiliated of the American College of Cardiology, and serves as a member of the ethics committee at JKCI. He is also A honorary lecturer at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS).
He has worked closely with data managers at the JKCI to develop a NCDR registry for acute coronary syndrome registry which will allow for the evaluation of the management and outcomes of ACS patients seeking care in that hospital critical information needed for the development of in hospital quality improvement interventions.
